Watch out for hidden fees when canceling your membership. I had to wait for a year before I canceled or else I had to pay a $ 60 fee. So I waited a year and then I canceled today. When I went to Blink I was unexpectedly hit with an additional $ 21.57 fee AFTER canceling (that I was never told about)! Horrible business practice! Blink should explain to you what their entire cancellation process and total fees will be if you decide to cancel. These hidden charges are ridiculous!!! Beware!

I did my research before signing up for a gym. I choose Blink Jamaica cause I like to shop in the area and I am 1520 minutes away by either bus or train. Many gyms have a either a six month to one year policy, so best to be smart and read up on those agreements. I went once on a Saturday to the Jackson Heights location and hated it! I swore to never to return to that place. If you are okay with going to a new neighborhood with people with working class backgrounds and less crowds. then go to this location. If not stay at your location, but don’t complain I told you this one is empty most times of the day!

I’ve been a member for a few months now and I’m really liking my gym experience. The staff is really nice, especially Katarina who signed me originally. It’s very spacious and clean. Waits for machines are not long and it’s not overcrowded.
There are people who come to be cute and flirt but I think that’s at every gym. Overall I’d recommend it to anyone. I’d love it if they had classes but oh well, still a good gym.

If I could rate this NO STARS, I would have. When Blink was promoting their $ 20 per month with a free guest, I was sold. I started going to the Brooklyn location but it was out of my way. That’s when I decided to come to this location, and bring a guest. We have been coming here everyday since January 2, 2015. January 23 around 6pm is the main reason why I had to write this review. There was that same skinny Hispanic female that has been working the front desk since I started coming to this location. I swiped in thinking out work out was about to begin, but my guest realize he forgot his wallet at home with everything in it, not to mention the drive to get here took over 20 mins so we definitely didn’t feel like going back home to get it. But I remembered that when I sign up my guest at this location they took a photo of him, so I kindly ask the lady at the front desk to look him up (this is the same girl that has been working the front desk and took his picture since we started coming here) now I know she encounters hundreds of people a day, but she refused to look him up and stated this is privately owned gym and needed a picture ID (they never even asked for a picture ID the day she signed him up) so I stated to her «if you type in his name you will see the picture you took of him» and she still refused. Well that was all it took. Poor customer service, now I’m no longer a member of Blink and proud new member of 24 Hours Fitness, and the customer service between the too is like night and day. Thank You Blink front desk worker for bringing light to my eyes that there is way better gyms out there. Customer service is everything.

So apparently this is where the ratchets come to ratch. Never once in my two years at PF (Manhattan location) have I been hit on. My first time at Blink however, it took all of twenty minutes for two young gentlemen to decide that it was a good time and place to make a move. Um, fall back.
That said, the facility was a good size, decently clean and the manager was very friendly. Can’t say as much for his staff but at least they weren’t rude. If they were smart they would have rolled out the red carpet for my cousin and I, since we were both doing the free trial-obviously considering joining but not yet committed. But what can I say? We are not always smart! No one paid us much attention.
Overall not a bad experience, but maybe not better enough than PF to get me to switch and pay 5 more bucks a month.
Ps. The ab rotating machines and the giant stair masters are legit though! Don’t leave without trying these :)

So I have decided to start a new years resolution & drop these extra 15 pounds the kids have blessed me with, hubby comes here a lot so I got my own membership & we have been coming everyday. I prefer the morning time because there’s less of a crowd; during evening hours there a lot of people waiting to uses most of the body building machines. As for entertainment here, there are tons of TV’s, and most TV’s are built into the treadmills. My entertainment usually are the girls who come here with tons of makeup on, do 2 sit ups, then takes a selfie to show their «working out»; ahh you can’t beat laughing! All in all its an amazing gym with tons of guaranteed progress that I look foward to seeing in the near future.

The gym itself is fine. Essentially you get what you pay for. Fast forward to summer of last year, I had an accident and when I came out of the hospital, I was using a cane. I hobbled over to Blink to cancel my membership because how could I use a machine with a cane?
I came in prepared with a doctor’s note and everything. The manager could clearly see that I was physically handicapped and was using a cane and she’s asking me why I want to cancel. UMMMM, YEA ME AND MY CANE ARE GONNA HOP ONTO THIS ELLIPTICAL RIGHT HERE.
Provided with a doctor’s note and everything, they still charged me the cancellation fee which was about 3x more than the monthly fee. What kind of business practice is that??? I’m handicapped, fresh out of the hospital, hobbling on a cane and they still won’t waive the cancellation fee? Oh wow. Just this experience itself says a lot about their business ethics. I’m disappointed in Blink and will warn everyone near and far about them… It’s not like my accident was intentional or could be helped. Long story short, stay away. Managers were NOT accommodating or helpful at all.

Blink Gym in Jamaica is a great gym, minus the fact there are no classes. The staff is friendly and professional. The ease with which I signed up made it that more appealing. There are several memberships one can chose; and the prices are affordable. The affordability, the ease of signing-up as a member and the equipment that this gym has makes it state of the art compared to it’s competition in the community. The gym is clean and well maintained. In addition, the personal trainers are skilled professionals. The personal trainer I have does this boot camp style work out that is worth the money. My trainer is great! Takes time with me, listens to me and gives me great feedback. I like that in a trainer. I have seen tremendous improvement. In addition, I take what I learn from my trainer and apply at home or where ever I work out.

Good gym. Good staff and atmosphere. Clean and well kept equipment. A load better than the atrocity that is known as planet fitness, I come here 5 times a week with my fiancé to workout and even the other members are friendly and helpful unlike other gym experience I have had. My only issue is that the gym is limited in its time frame sometimes I only have enough time after work to come do a workout for an hour. I just wish they would extend their hours or make it 24 hours like other locations.

PEOPLE, you gotta be smart when someone is telling you to sign a contract, whether manually or electronically. When I was officiating my membership, for example, they show u this electronic version of a contract where the paragraphs look bulky and causes people to not even read it. So I asked them to print everything on paper before I signed anything. If you READ carefully, its a ONE-YEAR MEMBERSHIP at the rate of $ 15 or $ 20 per month.
Pros:
Gym is clean for the most part. I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5.
Front desk staff are attentive to member entering.
Lot’s of cardio machines.
Lots of weight machines.
Spacious, except during busy hours, but its still manageable to find space.
Cons
–The music management plays is HORRIBLE! In fact, makes me wanna stop working out at times. If management reads this, here is a valuable suggestion. Ask members to make a list of 2 or 3 songs they’d like to hear. If that’s too much work, at least play songs that would give us an ounce or two of adrenaline!
– There is only 1 free-weight Squat rack!
This gym is spacious, so why shouldn’t there be another free-weight squat rack?!
Sometimes you have guys hogging that ONE squat rack.
Please let there be 2.

Clean and spacious, but very bare bones. One squat rack in the entire gym, no classes, but you get tons of unsolicited advice from fellow gym-goers! The locker rooms are nice, bathrooms feel upscale and I’ve never seen any equipment out of order. Parking is iffy, if you go during certain hours you can park in the express bus lanes but weekends are a no-go.
I don’t love it, but it’s dirt cheap. I personally like to have classes and personal training options in a gym. I also prefer a smaller space, I hate the wide open feel of this gym. I never go because I can never find parking and the meter maids are always on patrol outside.

I was never told that there was a «1 year commitment» when I started going to this place. I applied online and went to the location to receive my key fob. No one mentioned this to me and I never received any forms.
As I am cancelling, I’m informed of this. I ask the employee, Jess, at the desk for the number to corporate and I get this condescending attitude about how they only communicate via email and that I should have read my «contract.» I hope I never have to interview «Jess» for a job. It’s cool though, I’m willing to pay a little more and walk a little further for better service, a better experience, and more than one squat rack.

Christina, Eddie, Lynn and the manager really went out of their way to remedy my service issue. I didn’t even have to ask them for help. The staff volunteered to help me on their own accord. Great staff! Great job Management for hiring nice people! I love this Blink location, especially! I’m writing a great review because they deserve one! Clean machines, clean locker rooms! I haven’t bumped into weirdos hitting on me inside the gym, but walking to the gym… I wasn’t as lucky. I hope they are able to maintain this quality of service and not get too busy, as I may have to cancel my membership. I don’t want to do that… Because. I LOVE WORKING OUT HERE!!!
I’ve been a member at NYSC, David Barton and New York Health & Raquet Club.
Blinks equipment is comparable, sans the towel service, sauna, pool, accessories and fitness classes.

Clean, spacious, and plenty of machines. What more could I ask for. I always say that management sets the tone for a business. And so far, Blink is doing an excellent job. I only wish they had individual mats for stretching and crunches.

Pros:
Cheap
Clean
Lots of cardio equipment
Lots of Tvs
Good amount of weight equipment
Most people friendly or don’t bother you
Cons:
Muscle guys hog bench/squat machines
I signed up for this gym since it opened but i have only been about 6 times over 34 months so far. This gym is very clean, when it first opened they mopped the gym area almost hourly and they cleaned the machines themselves a lot. Now they don’t mop the floor as often but they added wipes so you can clean it yourself instead. Bathrooms are awesome, really clean and the lockers area is mopped too.
I usually go around 2pm-5:30pm during the week and the treadmills, bikes, elliptical, and step climber usually are open. There are a lot more of them than anything else at the gym. The treadmills go up to 14mph and some have tvs in them. They also have like 8 hd tvs hanging from the ceiling to watch while you workout. There are a lot of free weights and three bench press/squat machines plus the other types of weight machines. The weight sections are usually the most crowded since there are usually only one or two of a specific machine. That is the only bad thing about the gym, if your here for bench/squat machine or the weight machine around it your going to have to come at a time when there are less people.
Today was the worst for the bench machine. I was there for 2 hours and all 3 of the machines were occupied for almost the entire time. Maybe 10 minutes one of them was open. All the big muscle guys took them over, they took turns so no one else could really get a turn and they spent 85% of their time on that one machine. At one point two strangers teamed up and took turns on the machine because as soon as it open they take. Other than those guys most of the people are friendly or don’t bother you.

I belong to Crunch gym in Manhattan, but wanted to also join a gym near my house. I joined Bally’s a few doors down, but that did not last long, it was so filthy, majorly ghetto and disgusting with crappy equipment and had to cancel.
Blink is the total opposite. Granted is just recently opened but it is very clean, both the workout area and the locker rooms. There are always people cleaning the gym all the time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The clientele are nice and not ghetto (hope it stays that way) and respectful.
The gym is very roomy, with tons of aerobic equipment and the life fitness equipment (which is what Crunch uses) is top notch, just wish there were a little bit more. Alex, the manager is a very nice guy and seems to have his act together in keeping this place topnotch. Great variety of music is played here as well.
Blink is owned by Equinox so you know that it will be really taken care of and not turn into a ghetto cesspool like the nearby Bally’s.
I like this gym so much, I will probably not renew my Crunch membership when it ends.
So if you are looking for a very clean, non-ghetto gym, this is your place. A very welcome addition to Jamaica.

Just opened up in Jamaica, Queens finally! I used to go to the blink on E. 4th between Broadway /Lafayette and loved it there. Spacious, clean, everyone was respectful there, and plenty of equipment so you do not have to wait to work out.
This location has the same feel. First of all, the entrance is on Jamaica Avenue about 5 stores down from Guy R Brewer Blvd (across from Fabco Shoes). Once you go in and walk upstairs, the place will open up to a huge gym with equipment all over the place, but perfectly organized by which body parts you want to target. The staff is friendly and greets you immediately on entry. The music is a good mix and not too loud that you feel like you are in a club.
This place just opened up to start 2013 so it has not really been crowded at all, which is fantastic if you work out after work around 67pm. I hope that even when this place starts to fill up as the year goes on that Blink will maintain its reputation and keep it clean.
Price? You can’t beat it. $ 20/month allows you to work out at any of their locations and you can bring a guest every single time!

Brand spanking new place.
A lot treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, open space for free weights.
Love that brand new gym smell. If you pay $ 20 per month, you can bring a guest/workout buddy.

I’ve been a Blink member for some time. I had a take a hiatus from the very first gym in NoHo, after resigning to being too lazy to continue the out-of-the-way journey to frequent that location. I still live in Jamaica now, and was working in Chelsea at the time. After 1+ year, and an increase in workload, I decided I needed a gym near my apartment to realistically get a workout in.
It pained me to cancel my membership to the gym that helped me get into the best shape of my life. I ended up joining the YMCA on the corner of my block. For all intents and purposes, it worked out really well. It was right on my corner, so I had no excuses. But I’ve actually found myself getting more out of shape. It just didn’t have the mojo of Blink.
While running around Christmas shopping on Jamaica Ave., I saw the familiar blue glow of «Blink.» I was astounded. A Blink was opening up a short five blocks from my house! The next day I went for a tour and felt like I was greeting an old and dear friend. I was home again. Nothing against the Jamaica YMCA, but it simply isn’t Blink. I had built an emotional connection with Blink almost two years ago when I first walked into the doors of the inaugural NoHo outpost. And now, there’s a beacon of simple and accessible quality fitness for the everyman, right in my backyard.
I needed no convincing. I signed up on the spot, then walked over to the YMCA to cancel my membership. It felt good to be back.
Per Blink (and Equinox’s) m.o., it’s very clean. The staff are extremely friendly and inviting (shout out to Jevonna and Alex). And the equipment is among the highest caliber. A marked difference between Jamaica and NoHo is the size of the locker room. That was my biggest problem with NoHo. The men’s locker room was a sardine can, and it seems they learned from their mistake when building out this location.
There’s stiff competition to be had in Jamaica, with the likes of Bally, Lucille Roberts, and YMCA all only blocks away (and closer to the trains, no less). But there’s a certain panache about Blink that, for me, sets it above the rest. I’m going to enjoy the empty evenings, and slow afternoons. Because I doubt it’ll be like this very long. Welcome to the neighborhood Blink. I’ve been waiting for you.
